Farmi 3-Point Logging / Skidding Winches |

|
The Farmi JL 351 and JL 351 P logging winches are loaded with features to ensure safe and productive operation on small tractors. Both the clutch and the drum lock are rope controlled. The operator can stand safely to the side, away from the cable and the logs. Both models have identical winch mechanisms with the famous Farmi sensor, coiler and brake system.
The JL 351 P winch shown above, has a built in multi-purpose dozer blade. You can stack logs on the landing, open skid trails, and clear snow. The dozer blade also functions as a butt-plate.
The JL 351 model has adjustable outrigger stabilizer legs. The bottom of the legs has a "toe" which can be used to bunch trees at the landing. The open design does not interfere with the drawbar on most tractors so a log trailer can be pulled without removing the winch. The clutch control rope runs through a swivel on top of the winch. The winch can therefore be operated from any direction. This is an important feature for the operator as he can control the winch from a place where he can see the load as he is pulling it in. Good vision will enable the operator to prevent loads from hooking up behind stumps and roots and also to reduce damage on the remaining trees. This feature also enhances operator safety and production. Without leaving the tractor seat, one can release the load, drive out of adverse conditions and winch the load in again. When winching from the tractor seat, one must have the optional protective screen installed between the winch and the operator. The clutch enables the operator to select any pull from zero to maximum pull of the winch. The clutch will slip when the load is heavier than the selected pull. This prevents damage to the cable or winch even if the load gets hooked behind stump or root. The clutch has a 5 year parts warranty. A new clutch can be riveted on he old sprocket so the clutch is easy and inexpensive to replace. The sturdy upper sprocket acts as a heat sink and absorbs the heat generated in the clutch when winching, so the clutch will not burn out. The winch frame is high. The high point of pull is very beneficial as it creates down-pressure on the winch when winching. The down-pressure pushes the blade or legs into the ground which anchors the winch and tractor in place. After the logs are winched in, one slips the cable under the lower snatchblock for skidding the load out. The lower snatch-block lowers the point of pull so one can pull out much larger loads. The thin winch frame keeps the weight close to the tractor, large net loads can therefore be skidded out. ROPS cab, and front end weight or front end loader is a must. Four logs can be winched in and skidded out hooked to the cable. An additional six logs can be hooked up and skidded out from the notches on the winch frame. The wire rope has a steel core and stays flexible even with use. The wire rope is fastened to the winch drum on the outside so the fastening will not cause hookups or tangle inside the drum. The upper pulley has a shield which prevents the cable sliders from jamming into the pulley. Clutch adjustment, brake adjustment, replacing the cable and all other service can be done without any disassembly of the winch. Repair of the winch is also very easy because the entire winch mechanism can be removed in one piece after removal of six easy-to-get-to bolts. |

JL351P from the back. The winch can be hooked to category I and II tractors. The clutch is controlled from the white rope which comes out from the top of the winch frame. The winch can be operated from either side of the winch or from the tractor seat. This gives the operator a choice of running the winch from where he can see the best. If operated from the tractor seat, one must add the protective screen SV350. |

The Farmi JL 501 skidding winch represents the medium capacity in the Farmi winch line. The body, components and all structural parts have been designed with a view to maximum operational comfort and durability, without forgetting the necessary safety features. Thanks to the famous Farmi clutch system and new drum design, the clutch grips and releases smoothly, and the logs move evenly without jerking. The unique Farmi sensor, coiler and brake system increases cable life and user convenience. The chainsaw stand and the two tool trays are features the professionals appreciate.
This prevents damage to the cable or winch even if the load gets hooked behind a stump or root. Both the clutch and the drum lock are rope controlled. The operator can stand safely to the side, away from the cable and the logs. The clutch pads are over 3/8" thick and riveted with 12 rivets. The clutch is warranted for 5 years in everyday use. A new clutch can be riveted on the old sprocket so the clutch is easy and inexpensive to replace. The sturdy upper sprocket acts as a heat sink and absorbs the heat generated in the clutch when winching, so the clutch will not burn out. Four logs can be winched in and skidded out hooked to the cable. An additional eight logs can be hooked up and skidded out from the notches on the winch frame. The large, heavy-duty drum can house up to 265 feet of 3/8" cable. This exceptional reach enables the JL 501 to be used also in very difficult terrain. The cable coils better due to the improved design of the winch drum. Even coiling is further improved by the sensor roller which senses if the cable is moving in or out. If, for example, the cable is pulled out, the sensor releases the drum brake and it is very easy to pull the cable. When the cable has been pulled out, the sensor notes that the cable motion has stopped and engages the drum brake. That stops the drum from turning and prevents backlash and tangle of the cable on the drum. The winch frame is 65" high. The high point of pull is very beneficial as it creates down-pressure on the winch when winching. The down-pressure pushes the blade into the ground which anchors the winch and tractor in place. The frame is also "thin" so the winch is close to the tractor. Large net loads can therefore be skidded out as the weight is close to the tractor. ROPS cab, and front end weights or front end loader is a must. An unique Farmi feature is the adjustable snatchblock on the JL 501 model. The lower snachblock can be adjustable up or down on a rail so optimal traction can be transferred to the rear wheels on different size tractors. |

The Farmi JL 601 is a heavy duty skidding winch for demanding logging operations where a professional moves large amounts of wood yearly. Even very large trees can be winched in with this powerful machine. The JL 601 has many unique features. The famous Farmi sensor, coiler and brake system increases cable life and user convenience. The two tool boxes are features the professionals appreciate. The dozer blade also functions as a butt plate when skidding. The JL 601 is build for extreme dependability. The weight of the JL 601 describes a machine where nothing was compromised for durability.
The clutch control rope runs through a swivel on top of the winch. The winch can therefore be operated any direction. This is an important feature for the operator as he can control the winch from a place where he can see the load as he is pulling it in. Good vision will enable the operator to prevent loads from hooking up behind stumps and roots and also to reduce damage on the remaining trees. This prevents damage to the cable or winch even if the load gets hooked behind a stump or root. The clutch is warranted for 5 years in everyday use. The upper pulley has a large diameter and a groove for the cable. This prevents flattening of the cable thus extending cable life. The pulley swivels which enables pulling from either side. The pulley guides the cable to the center of the coiler no matter from which side the load is being pulled. For safety reasons, (risk of tipping), pulls over 30 degrees to the side must be avoided. Four logs can be winched in and skidded out hooked to the cable. An additional eight logs can be hooked up and skidded out from the notches on the winch frame. The cable coils better due to the improved design of the winch drum. Even coiling is further improved by the sensor roller which senses if the cable is moving in or out. That stops the drum from turning and prevents backlash and tangle of the cable on the drum. Both the clutch and the drum lock are rope controlled. The operator can stand safely to the side away from the cable and the logs. The winch frame is 69 11/16" high. The high point of pull is very beneficial as it creates down pressure on the winch when winching. The down pressure pushes the blade into the ground which anchors the winch and tractor in place. The JL 601 can be hooked up to tractors ranging from medium to big size. The frame of the winch is close to the tractor. Large net loads can therefore be skidded out as the weight rides close to the tractor. ROPS cab and front end weights or front end loader is a must. An unique Farmi feature is the adjustable snatchblock on the JL 601 model. The lower snachblock can be adjusted up or down on a rail so optimal traction can be transferred to the rear wheels on different size tractors. |
