This grapple has a two prong jaw on one side, and a single jaw on the other. The jaws and the wear parts are made out of Hardox steel.
Besides lifting stones, this grapple can also be used for the handling of logs. The form of the jaws is such that the grab also penetrates into piles of brush or logging slash.
The grapple opens to 52". To hold anything securely in the grapple, it must close at least 10". Besides stones, one can handle logs, brush and logging residue with these grapples.
The SG52HD penetrates easily in piles of brush and can be used for feeding wood chippers and tub grinders.

The jaws are made of Hardox Steel and have wear plates. The picture also shows plate
on the underside of the grapple, that protects the cylinder from damage.
The wear plates on the jaws are approximately ¼" thick.
Every joint in a Valby grapple has a grease fitting and a bronze bushing.
The stone grapple has heavy pins, thus they have a large bearing surface for extended life expectancy.
The SG52-HD hydraulic grapple is made out of high quality Hardox steel.
The grapple comes with a flat mounting plate with four holes for 5/8" bolts.
If a rotor is needed, one can put one onto the mounting plate.
Rotators that fit the bolt pattern, the R30 , R45, R45F and the R6 , rotators that have 3, 4 1/2 and 6 ton lifting capacities. The R45 is recommended for use with the SG52-HF.
